Sinopsis:

One Hundred Years of Solitude is the story of the village of Macondo and the Buendia family (all of whom have disturbingly and probably intentionally similar names). Macondo is in an unspecified South American country (assumed to be the Colombia of the author, Gabriel Garcia Márquez). For most of the novel, Macondo is isolated from the rest of the world (hence the title); eventually the outside breaks in (in the form of a railroad and a banana company) and everything heads off for the netherworld in the proverbial handbasket. The Buendia family gets increasingly weird and ends with incest.
